Elastomeric Coating
Coatings Give Roofs New Life
Skyward Roofing specializes in all kinds of flat roofing services. We don’t only install, replace, and repair flat roofs – we also help increase their life span by performing maintenance – like painting and coating – membrane, BUR, and metal roofs. This both makes it look brand new, and also provides a protective layer that will help prevent or fix some leaks, improve energy efficiency, and protect the roofing material underneath.
We also offer elastomeric roof coatings and spray foam roofing that can extend the life of almost any type of roof. These treatments are a monolithic coating that helps seal small gaps and prevent water infiltration. By covering the entire roof in a coating that adheres to the roof and itself, joints are sealed, and the entire roof is protected as a whole.
What is Elastomeric Coating?
Elastomeric coatings are a type of roof coating that can be applied by rolling, pouring, or spraying. There are a few different options for the kind of elastomeric coating, like silicone, acrylic, and polyurethane. We can evaluate your roof and go over the best option.
Elastomeric coatings are good for all kinds of roof materials – including TPO, EPDM, and metal. They form a waterproof barrier over the entire roof. Roof coatings are thicker than paint and are a flexible surface that flexes with the heat and cold to provide long-lasting protection to the roof material it is applied to.
How Roof Coating Extends the Life of Your Commercial Roof
Elastomeric coatings can be installed over traditional roofs, like metal roofs, and flat roofs, as well as stucco walls. Elastomeric membranes are a highly durable and reflective surface that helps protect the roofing materials underneath. It will seal small gaps that could lead to leaks (such as screw heads), and the white color provides UV protection for the existing roof underneath.
Improve UV Ray Reflectivity
After a while, flat roofs get dirty and stop reflecting UV rays as well. This allows for more heat absorption, which can reduce your building’s energy efficiency. Coating a roof with a silicone coating restores a fresh, reflective surface to your building’s roof, once again boosting its ability to deflect UV rays away.
Benefits of Roof Coating Treatments
Both elastomeric silicone coating and spray foam roofing are ways to waterproof your roof that are sprayed on over the entire roof. By deflecting UV rays, covering imperfections, and providing a smooth surface, it can extend the life of commercial roofs. Elastomeric membranes help reduce algae growth, add a watertight surface, and can help delay the need for roof replacement. Spray foam roofing (aka SPF roof) improves your roof’s insulation by adding a layer of foam on top, and covers any imperfections that may have been allowing leaks. SPF roofs are finished with a silicone coating.
Another benefit of roof coating is that it does not have the amount of downtime that replacing or patching a roof may entail. Your business can remain open during the coating process.
